In ‘94 I was in peak racing mode. I was racing my car in 10 races a year as well as doing endurance racing and the occasional Firehawk races with frie nds. I was all into racing . My dad and I were waking to go to the Talladega Nascar race the morning I heard about Senna at Imola . It hit me hard.
About 5 months later I was on vacation in Italy and I saw these models at a gas station. I have n’t looked them up but I doubt the li very and year is correct. But that didn’t matter to me, these were his teams so I had to buy them.
Yesterday I was doing some long overdue
dusting and it got me thinking of Senna.

Thanks, nice to see that again.
That’s the thing about really fast drivers. In places where I am trying not to wreck, they live there and are trying to go faster .
If you notice he is in full drift mode through those turns after turn in , balancing the car with the throttle, not the steering wheel . He just slides the car everywhere. Far beyond my skills!
You can see how he would be a master in the rain. Same story.

I couldn’t even handle karting, such a strain on my arms and back. What these guys (and gals) do is incredible.

Stumbled across this mural while out riding about a year ago. Pretty crazy to think about Senna racing around downtown Phoenix.

One thing that I’ve thought is how karting is basic training for road racing. Short wheelbase, lots of drifting, fast corrections. If you can be competitive in a high performance kart, cars become pretty tame I suppose.

I am guessing a Honda 350 but the engine proportions looks too big ? I have a 350 too.

Yeah, that one is the 450 with DOHC, hence the girth. Currently taken apart. Somehow cracked a timing tensioner bracket. Valves and pistons are good. Took it apart with my STEM, but is obviously on hold for now. I also have a ‘71 175 that’s cafe’d out. Needs an ignition coil currently.

Well, I don’t know my Honda History that well. I would have assumed that the 450 came after the 350 but I see they were both around in ‘70. The reason I didn’t think it was a 450 was the drum brake of earlier bikes, but I see examples of them on the web. I l earned something.

Yeah, I think both came out in the ‘60s. Mine is the CL variety, hence the front drum on a later model.
